******************************************
Markings by Spookie v1.0b
******************************************
--------------------------------------------------
DESCRIPTION:
This is an add-on for McWolf's Decalshine mod (REQUIRED) which provides new, better looking markings for your aircraft. The purpose was to eliminate the need for MAT Manager (so the cache folder wouldn't ever flow), as well as to have better looking decals with better alpha channels. MAT Manager still has more variations in markings than I could ever probably make, but this is my attempt, and I feel it's a good start.
-Note about German Balkenzreuzen: The game uses the non outlined 1942-44 style of cross for all Bf-109s from the F onward. The file in question is named Balken2.TGA located in the DECALS/GERMAN/ folder and is currently the non-outlined style. If you are like me and prefer the 1940-42 stlye for the Friedrich, simply back-up the file, copy balken1.TGA and rename it to balken2. This will, however, put early style crosses on your G models as well. So it's you choice to change it as often or not as you want.
-Final note: The markings I have made for Slovakia are the round, Czechoslovakian type, not the pro-Axis type. So, do not install mine if you want the axis type.
--------------------------------------------------
FILES INCLUDED:
-All national insignia except Italy (I forgot, oops).
-Fuselage numbers for all US and Russian Planes (multiple fonts for Russians)
-Fuselage numbers for Luftwaffe fighters (only one font for all German fighters at the moment; haven't done bomber codes yet)
-All Jagdgeschwader tactical symbols (i.e. < - ~)
-All Jagdgeschwader emblems and badges
-Correct Jagdgeschwader tactical symbols are now shown when specific Staffels as well as Stab Gruppen are selected from the units list (i.e. 4./JG52 will now have the proper II.Gruppe bar and Stab aircraft will no longer carry IV.Gruppe markings- I always hated that ;)
-VF-6 "Shooting Stars" emblem I did as test for a USS Enterprise campaign I was working on (I will be amking more unit markings in the future)
--------------------------------------------------
INSTALLATION:
-First, you must have McWolf's Decalshine mod to use these markings.
-Second, you may want to back-up your existing Paintschemes folder from McWolf's mod in case you don't like mine or something
-Installation is fairly simple even though it's manual. Just find the folder for McWolf's mod in your MODS folder, and copy the Paintschemes folder from my archive into it. All your doing is overwriting some of the files.
--------------------------------------------------
FURTHER NOTES:
Because there was much variation in the emblems used by the Jagdgeschwaders, I had to try and pick-out what I thought was best. This means that the emblems you see for JG1 may be appropriate for 1943 or something, whilst the emblems for JG52 are from 1942. This, combined with the game's incorrect marking setup (both time frame and physical position)for unit emblems has made it this all a little less than historical, but I feels it's the best we've got so far. Feel free to give suggestions/corrections to me
--------------------------------------------------
CREDITS:
-Thanks to McWolf for figuring out how to replace the default markings in the first place
-I reworked some of Ace's Artwork's Russian numbers, so thanks to him for the originals.
